House in Bellaterra

Xavier Vancells + Franc Fernández + Carles Puig

1st prize 4a Biennal d’Arquitectura del Vallès

The characteristics of the terrain and the setting’s natural surroundings allow the house to enjoy superb views.

This setting is endowed with a neutral space 25 m long x 8m wide x 5.5 m high which is linked to the exterior by means of "exchange spaces".

A. Infrastructural exhange

A glassed volume, accessible by car, acts as an exchange between the domestic space and the road network; a motorway barrier ends the infrastructural sequence in the interior of the house.

B. Landscape exchange

A volume clad with glass and wood connects the domestic space with the landscape of the Vallés, with the Montseny in the background.
