6th Vallès Architecture Biennale opening

20/01/2011

The Sant Cugat City Hall hosts the 6th Vallès Architecture Biennale opening. The award forms part of the prizes given by the Vallès branch of the Col•legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya to projects built and completed in the Vallès districts from 2009 to 2010.

The event consisted of a guided tour through the building with Xavier Vancells and Franc Fernandez and ended with a conference in the Plenary Hall. The building designed by Vancells, Fernández and Puig opened in 2007. The new municipal headquarters, spread over 9,736 sq. m and six floors, revolve around a central patio that creates large spaces flooded with light. The building incorporates an environmental management system that optimizes natural resources and energy consumption while reducing waste. The design was selected to form part of the exhibition "Architecture Catalane 2004-2009 portrait d'epoque" celebrated from 9th october until 10th January 2009 in the Pavillon de Tête of the Cité de l’Architecture & du Patrimoine in Paris.
