"Architecture Catalane 2004-2009 portrait d'epoque"

09/10/2009

The new Sant Cugat del Vallès City Hall building designed by the architects Xavier Vancells + Franc Fernández + Carles Puig has been selected to form part of the exhibition on Catalan architecture being presented until 10 January in the Pavillon de Tête of the Cité de l’Architecture & du Patrimoine in Paris.

The exhibition asks whether there is a specifically Catalan model of architecture by displaying work from the last five years, from major representative projects to more modest ones distinguished by the effectiveness of their approaches.

The building designed by Vancells, Fernández and Puig opened in 2007. The new municipal headquarters, spread over 9,736 sq. m and six floors, revolve around a central patio that creates large spaces flooded with light. The building incorporates an environmental management system that optimizes natural resources and energy consumption while reducing waste.
